WSOPC Harrah's New Orleans ME begins tomorrow

Lou Esposito won the WSOPC Harrah's New Orleans last year.
The final event of the '07/'08 World Series of Poker Circuit season kicks off tomorrow in New Orleans.
It's been an exciting year for the WSOPC, which has seen high-profile players like Chris Ferguson and Allen Cunningham taking down events while slightly lesser-known players continued to win the majority of the events.
Last year Lou Esposito got his very own gold ring by winning the WSOPC Harrah's New Orleans at an exciting final table that included TV personality Phil Gordon. Gordon entered the final table with the chip lead and appeared primed to win a WSOPC title but was knocked out when his A-T failed against Clint Schafer's A-Q.
The event was one of the most popular on the circuit last year, drawing 346 players and creating a prize pool of more than $1.6 million, with first place getting an impressive $516,801.
There have already been plenty of interesting story lines in the preliminary events including online poker whiz Jonathan Westra taking down Event 6 and Daphne Turner becoming the first woman to win an open event at the WSOPC in New Orleans by taking down Event 11. The main event, with its $5,000 buy-in, promises to be the most exciting yet.
PokerListings.com will be on the scene with our tournament reporting crew so be sure to set your alarm clocks for 12 p.m. (we know it's pretty early but if we can do it, you can do it), go to our Live Tournaments section and get ready for some red-hot Louisiana poker action.
