WSOP Tweet Relief: To Gregy20723 Go the Spoils
When you win the World Series of Poker Main Event championship for $8.5 million, your name rings from the highest of Twitter mountaintops.
Such are the spoils for Greg "@Gregy20723" Merson as anyone and everyone in the world of poker fires off their congrats to the deserving winner of the 2012 WSOP Main Event.
From Daniel Negreanu to past champs Pius Heinz and Jonathan Duhamel to celebrity pal Michael Phelps, the kudos are unanimous in their effusive praise: Great guy, great player, great win.
Even Phil Hellmuth, the man who Merson overtook for 2012 WSOP Player of the Year with the win, gave him his due.
For many Merson was the favorite going in but it still took 399 hands, 11 hours three-handed and a short-but-intense heads-up match with Jesse "@Jesse_Sylvia888" Sylvia to separate him completely from the pack.
But now that he's the champ, to Gregy go the tweets. Check our full recap story here.
