WSOP to run Poker Seminars for Charity

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth will help host the WSOP's Bad Beat Seminar Series.

The World Series of Poker and Bad Beat on Cancer are teaming up to offer WSOP players a series of free poker seminars.

Throughout the 42nd Annual World Series of Poker, which starts at the end of this month, players are invited to participate in 11 free-admission seminars from respected poker pros relating to different poker subjects.

The WSOP has teamed with the Prevent Cancer Foundation and the Nevada Cancer Institute to offer what's being dubbed the “First Annual Bad Beat Seminar Series” featuring some of the greatest minds in poker sharing personal insights, instruction and stories prior to the day’s play.

Legends of the game like Doyle Brunson and Phil Hellmuth will join online poker site phenoms including Annette Obrestad, Dan "Jungleman12" Cates, Phil Galfond and more in donating their time for the hour-long sessions.

The hope is attendees will either consider a $20 donation to Bad Beat on Cancer, or agree to pledge 1% of their 2011 WSOP tournament winnings to benefit Bad Beat on Cancer, with 100% of their donations being tax-deductible.

All seminars will feature 45 minutes of lecture time/discussion, followed by 15 minutes of interactive Q & A from the audience.

The seminars will go off at 10:30 a.m. PT daily in the Brasilia Ballroom at the Rio Convention Center, across the hall from the tournament area.
