WSOP star signs with PokerStars

By: Lianne Elias

PokerStars has signed 2005 WSOP Main Event champion Joseph Hachem to a sponsorship deal, it was announced this week.

As revealed by PokerListings last month, the WSOP champ signed an exclusive sponsorship deal to become an ambassador for the popular poker room. He is joining the ranks of 2003 WSOP Main Event winner Chris Moneymaker, 2004 WSOP Main Event winner Greg Raymer, 1983 WSOP Main Event champ Tom McEvoy, pro players Evelyn Ng and Isabelle Mercier, and actor-turned-poker-player Wil Wheaton.

Hachem has played consistently at PokerStars since 2001. Over the past four years, he has entered hundreds of poker tournaments at the online poker room and played in many cash games. Despite the fact that Hachem bought his way directly in to the WSOP Main Event this past July in Las Vegas rather than won his seat at PokerStars (like his predecessors Moneymaker and Raymer), he has admitted that joining Team PokerStars was 'a natural decision' for him.
