WSOP Brings 10-Day, 12-Ring Circuit Stop to Casino de Montréal


If Canadians want a shot at winning a WSOP Circuit ring on home soil this year they'll have 10 of them at a brand new stop at Casino de Montréal in April.

The WSOP announced today the details for the only Circuit stop in Canada this year which will run at the Casino de Montréal April 20-March 1.

On top of the 10 live events over that span another 2 official ring events will be held online at the following weekend.

"We are very proud that the WSOP, organizer of the biggest poker event in the world, selected the Casino de Montréal for this event," said Kevin Taylor, General Manager of the Casino de Montréal, "and places its trust in us to manage such a high-calibre poker event."

"As a Montrealer," added Mitch Garber, President and CEO of Caesars Interactive Entertainment, "I feel particularly proud of the fact that the Casino is the only Canadian stop on this remarkable circuit and that a Quebecer could be seated at the WSOP Circuit National Championship."

Satellites Start Online Jan. 31, run by the Quebec provincial government, offers legal online poker to residents of the province and will be offering qualifiers starting Jan. 31.

Live qualifiers will begin at the Casino de Montréal and the Casino du Lac‑Leamy starting March 9.

The Circuit main event with have two Day 1 flights starting April 28. Buy-in is $1,675 CAD. Preliminary events begin April 20 with a $365 No-Limit Hold'em event.

Winner of the Main Event wins a seat for the WSOP Circuit National Championship to be held later in the summer, as will the player who earns the most points at the live stop.

The online ring events are both one-day No-Limit Hold'em tourneys on March 8 and 9. Buy-ins are $320 and $530.
