WSOP adds extra Day 2 to Main Event
By Erin Warner
World Series of Poker organizers announced an adjusted Main Event schedule that falls back on a contingency plan to stretch the $10,000 championship over an extra day.
There will be four Day 1s, differentiated as days A through D from July 6-9.
This will be followed by two Day 2s. The remaining contestants from Days 1A and 1B will play on Day 2A July 20 and entrants from days 1C and 1D will play on Day 2B July 11.
Day 3 is July 12 and Day 4 is July 13. All days will feature six levels, which start at noon and pause for a 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. dinner break.
The field will then narrow to 36 on Day 5 July 14, while Day 6 shrinks the tournament to just the final table of nine on July 15.
July 16 is a rest day that may include a press conference with one of the final nine players. These plans have yet to be determined, said Nolan Dalla in an impromptu press conference with WSOP media this afternoon.
The final table starts at noon on July 17.
Registration for the Main Event closes following the first level July 9. This means no information regarding the number of registered players and expected prize pool will be released until the end of the first level on Day 1D.
