WSOP Academy instructor appearing on game show

On Thursday poker fans will be able to answer the question "Is Alex Outhred smarter than a fifth grader?" The pro poker player an World Series of Poker Academy instructor will be appearing on the game show Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? hosted by Jeff Foxworthy.

The quiz show asks contestants questions that a typical fifth grader would need to know the answer to on a test.

The questions range from animal science and math to astronomy and geography, ranging in levels from first grade to fifth grade.

Outhred, who placed fourth in the Season 5 World Poker Tour Mandalay Bay event last June, has the potential to win $1 million if he can answer all the questions correctly.

Unlike a poker game where you don't get outside help, Outhred will be able to fall back on his 10-year-old classmates to help him out during the show if he needs it. He has three options to get help, and once they're used he's on his own.

The prize money could be a big bankroll boost for the poker player, whose tournament cashes so far come out to almost $200,000.

Find out how well Outhred did on Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader Thursday on Fox at 8 p.m. (EST).
