In today’s Daily WSOP 3-Bet (the first of the summer!) we’ll look at Martin Jacobson getting off to a hot start, Brian Hastings making a bold bet and a clip of pure, unadulterated poker action straight from the Rio floor.

1) Ebanks, Jacobson Among $5k NLHE Leaders

The champ goes to work.

The first open event of the 2015 WSOP kicked off at 4 p.m. last night with a murderer’s row of top tier pros making their debuts this summer.

We’re talking Phil Hellmuth, Jason Mercier, Antonio Esfandiari, Brian Rast, JC Tran, Erik Seidel and plenty of others.

On the celebrity front former NFL defensive lineman Richard Seymour, who played last year’s series, also entered the fray.

In total 422 players plunked down $5,000 to play, which created a prize pool of $1.9m. By the time play finished around 3 a.m. the field had been reduced to 171.

Here are the top 10 stacks according to

1. Darryl Ronconi - 211,100
2. Ludovic Geilich - 194,000
3. Joe Ebanks - 187,000
4. Rong Li - 180,000
5. Tommaso Briotti - 178,800
6. Jeremiah Fitzpatrick - 174,700
7. Martin Jacobson - 173,800
8. Nick Rampone - 160,000
9. Sebastian Saffari - 143,500
10. Steve Merrifield - 141,700

2) Brian Hasting Takes Self Against Anyone

You know who’s pretty confident about this summer? Brian Hastings.

The famous high-stakes pro did the unthinkable yesterday and offered even odds for himself against ANYONE at the 2015 WSOP.

That’s right. Hastings was willing to take himself against Phil Ivey, Jason Mercier, Daniel Negreanu or any other heavy-hitter.

The bet will be decided by the same point structure used in the $25k Fantasy Draft. The bet is now closed as Hastings was quickly inundated with pros willing to take his action.

One thing’s for sure: It’s going to be an interesting summer for him.

3) Just a Slice of the WSOP Action

Couldn’t actually make it to the WSOP? Maybe you’re stuck in Hollywood like Daniel Negreanu?

Well, don’t worry because the WSOP released a nice little video with a little music in the background that gives you a feel for who’s playing in the $5k. Nice and simple.

So just kick back, watch some poker players riffle some chips and be thankful you’re not eating a Poker Kitchen hotdog.

Bonus: WSOP Min-Bets

1. Word on the street is that getting a box at the Rio is quite challenging so get ready to wait awhile if that’s what you want.

2. Erik Seidel showed up to play the $5k and is giving 2% of himself to REG. Nice guy, that Erik Seidel.

3. Jason Mercier is bringing back his @JMercChips chips account for people who want to follow his WSOP closely. Remember you’ll only get his chip counts if you follow both his accounts. Expect plenty of other considerate poker pros to take use this strategy over the summer:
