In today’s WSOP 3-Bet Jeff Madsen receives a sweet birthday present, Annie Duke gets insulted and a TV commentator busts Doyle Brunson.

It was a busy day at the 2012 WSOP as Brian Hastings won a bracelet and Phil Ivey made a deep run in the $5k Seven-Card Stud-8.

As always be sure to leave suggestions for future WSOP 3-Bets in the comments.

In the meantime check below for our top three underreported stories of the day:

Remember this guy? Jeff Madsen wins his first WSOP bracelet in 2006

3) Madsen Celebrates B-Day with Shootout Final Table

At the time this article was published there were still a few players to eliminate to set the final table of Event 14, $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Shootout, but it’s already guaranteed to be a good one as Jeff Madsen has secured a spot.

Madsen was Player of the Year at the 2006 WSOP when he won two WSOP bracelets and made a total of four final tables.

Since then the closest Madsen has gotten to winning a third WSOP bracelet was a fourth-place finish in the 2010 WSOPE £5k Pot-Limit event.

Madsen will have to get by at least one experienced pro tomorrow if he wants to take down a bracelet and the $311k first place prize.

Six-time WSOP bracelet winner Layne Flack also won his table and will be present for the final table.

Madsen turned 27 today and the former youngest WSOP bracelet winner ever will attempt to become the youngest three-time bracelet winner tomorrow.

2) Jason Dewitt Takes Issue with Annie Duke

It seemed like it was going to happen at some point and today Annie Duke finally felt some anger from the poker community over the collapse of the Epic Poker League.

Duke was sharing a table with online pro Jason Dewitt and when Duke busted Dewitt swore at her and said she was a “disgrace” to the poker world.

Duke responded by simply saying “thank you” and leaving the tournament floor.

Later Duke went to the floor staff and requested Dewitt get a penalty for using profanity at the table. The problem was that she went to the floor over an hour later and because that amount of time had elapsed they were unable to hand out a penalty.

Dewitt's version of events, requested of him via Twitter:

At this point it’s anybody’s guess as to whether that will be an isolated incident or Duke will continue to catch flak for the Epic Poker debacle over the rest of the 2012 WSOP.

1) Commentator Norman Chad Busts Doyle Brunson

In a surprising turn of events, ESPN funnyman Norman Chad busted poker legend Doyle Brunson in the $5k Seven-Card Stud-8 today.

The hand itself was relatively standard as Brunson was short-stacked and ran into Chad’s two-pair with pocket queens in the hole.

The Seven-Card Stud-8 was the first tournament that Doyle Brunson has played at the 2012 WSOP as he doesn’t care for the long hours anymore.

Even better than the bust out hand? This back-and-forth that occurred between Chad and Brunson on Twitter.

Don’t try and chirp the Texas Dolly!
