WSOP 3-Bet: $1.2m Cinderella, Mercier Lit, Paging Patrik Antonius

Patrik Antonius
Can't resist that blue steel.

The PokerListings WSOP 3-Bet is a chiseled jaw, a deep v-neck t-shirt and an afternoon poker news blue steel that still makes your heart skip a beat.

Got a tip from in and around the Rio? Let us know in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find an under-the-radar electrical engineer bucking long odds, Jason Mercier's struggles continue at the 2015 WSOP and we send out the call for Patrik Antonius.

1) Adrian Buckley, Millionaire

When you've faded a 7,200-player field and sit at the final table with four gold bracelet winners, that's already the stuff poker dreams are made of.

Not bad for a part-timer.

When you fade all of them, too, and take home a payday of $1.27m to your day job as an electrical engineer?

That's the stuff of poker fantasy. But it actually, really, came true last night for 27-year-old Adrian Buckley of Dacono, Colorado.

Buckley became the 2015 WSOP Millionaire Maker champion after defeating a final nine that included poker legends Mike Sexton, Erick Lindgren and Olivier Busquet.

As Buckley himself put it, “This is one-hundred percent surreal. This has been a crazy few days. It was the run of the century.”

Adding to his Cinderella story Buckley only had 6 BB to start Day 3, 10 to start Day 4 and overcame the chip disadvantage 3 times heads-up.

Saying that he'll pay off his student loans and play a few more events this summer - including maybe the $50k Players Championship - Buckley still says he'll return to his job as an engineer with Lockheed-Martin.

More on his amazing run here.

2) Mercier Yet to Make a Day 2 at 2015 WSOP

Remember all that stuff we said about momentum, confidence and surefire WSOP success when Jason Mercier won three SCOOP championships in a week?

Err, maybe we were a bit premature.

3) Calling Patrik Antonius

Patrik Antonius
Massage girls everywhere want to know.

No Ivey. No Dwan. And no Isildur1 (although that's not so much of s surprise, of course).

So far the 2015 WSOP is decidedly lacking in its online superstar/gawkability factor.

Another big name yet to make a real appearance?

The legendary Patrik Antonius.

We know he's in Vegas playing the big cash games but it'd be nice to see him add another deep run in a WSOP event to his legacy.

Also, think of all the disappointed massage girls

The $50k PPC and $111k One Drop can't come soon enough for any of us, really.
