WSOP 2006 Ladies champion wins another event
By Lianne Elias
Mary Jones Meyer, winner of the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Ladies No-Limit Hold'em event, captured another poker victory in the early hours of Sept. 27 when she won an event at the United States Poker Championship (USPC) at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J.
The Las Vegas, Nev., based player beat 272 competitors in the $500 No-Limit Hold'em tournament to win $47,192 and her first USPC title.
Out chipped by nearly 3-to-1, Mary fought her way to the top by knocking out pro player Scott Fischman as well as a well known Internet pro at the final table.
Mary, who is mentored by her husband, Bob, has been playing poker since 2004.
The USPC began Sept. 18 and will run until Oct. 7. Please visit www.trumptaj.com for further details.
