WPT underway at Mandalay Bay

Joseph Tehan

Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas is home of the second event on season six of the World Poker Tour (WPT). Three side events have been played, and the $10,000 championship tournament kicks off tomorrow.

The Mandalay Bay Poker Championship was added to the WPT schedule in season five, but even though it's a relatively new event, it's still very prestigious.

Last year, 349 players paid the $10,000 buy-in to create a massive $3,385,300 prize pool. Joe Tehan defeated Burt Boutin heads-up to win the $1,033,440 top prize.

A lot of great poker action can be expected in 2007 as well, and Theo Tran looks to be one of the hottest names. He has reached the final table in two of the three side events that have been finished so far.

Tran finished ninth in event 2, $1,500 No-Limit Texas Hold'em, and then claimed third place in event 3, $1,000 No-Limit Texas Hold'em, winning more than $30,000 in total.

Maybe Tran will go all the way in the championship event. PokerListings.com will be there to give you all the action - the latest live updates, exclusive player interviews and informative well-written and fun blogs can be found in our Live Tournaments Section.
