WPT success for Titan Poker qualifier
By Erik Sylven
Mike Harnett finished just outside the money at the Bay 101 Shooting Star, but the Titan Poker qualifier was still very pleased with his performance. On his way to taking 49th place in the WPT tournament in San Jose, Harnett knocked out Chad Brown and Johnny Chan, and thus earned himself $10,000 in bounty money.
Mike Harnett qualified for the World Poker Tour event through one of many big live-event satellites on Titan Poker. The tournament was played from March 11 to 15, and Harnett certainly made an impact.
In a press release from Titan Poker, Mike Harnett speaks about his WPT experience with Johnny Chan and other star players:
"On my first day I managed to knock out Chad Brown for a $5,000 bounty," said Harnett.
"I started Day 2 in 12th place with $133,000 chips. I sat at a table with Robert Williamson and Johnny Chan, and after about 90 minutes I managed to take out Johnny Chan! That was a fantastic moment for me!"
Chan is one of the best poker players of all time with two world championship titles and ten WSOP bracelets in total on his record.
Maybe Chan and Harnett will clash again at the World Series of Poker this summer. Chan will be there for sure, and Harnett has the chance to qualify through new satellite tournaments on Titan Poker.
On Saturday at 6 p.m. (GMT), the first of five WSOP satellites will be held on Titan, and after winning $10,000 in bounty prices at the Shooting Star event, Mike Harnett can probably afford the $350+$25 buy-in.
For other players with smaller bankrolls, minor satellites with lower buy-ins will be available.
