Breathe easy, poker fans. The World Poker Tour Texas Hold'em is going to be available on your cell phones for years to come.
The WPT, together with Internet gaming developer Hands-On, announced a new multi-year extension to its current partnership Tuesday. The deal will see the continuation of a successful run with Hold'em and other WPT products on mobile phones worldwide.
World Poker Tour Texas Hold'em has seen more than $5 million downloads, with hundreds of thousands of hands played per month. The game, says a joint release from the two companies, is consistently a top seller across major carriers internationally.
Last August, the WPT released a heads-up, real-money poker game for cell phones in the U.K., and in November, the company expanded its offerings to include Texas Hold'em for mobiles across the world.
"Extending our brand beyond television and onto mobile devices has catapulted the World Poker Tour franchise into the number one poker brand across multiple platforms, including television, mobile and online," WPT Enterprises CEO Steve Lipscomb said in a release.
World Poker Tour Texas Hold'em, purports the release, is now the most successful mobile poker game internationally.
