WPT interested in expanding on global scale

By Lianne Elias

WPT Enterprises (WPTE) will attend MIPCOM, the world's only audiovisual content market forum, next week in France in an effort to further export its World Poker Tour (WPT) television series to a global audience.

While WPTE recently signed deals which will see the WPT series produced locally in Canada and the Philippines, the firm is making its debut at MIPCOM so as to "formally" receive offers that will see its branded format launched in markets across the globe.

Steve Lipscomb, CEO and founder of WPTE, will be attending the show in Cannes from October 17-21 accompanied by Gary MacKinney, WPTE executive director of international sales. Statements issued confirm that WPTE is indeed interested in "staging WPT branded tours in regions around the world," and feels that MIPCOM is the most ideal venue to entertain offers from prospective buyers.

The two gentlemen will also be working on continuing the sale of international rights of the WPT's previous three seasons to distributors and broadcasters from around the world.

MIPCOM is credited with providing the necessary environment for television and audio-visual content industry professionals to seek out potential global media networks and producers. The forum reportedly reaches over 10,000 professionals from 95 different countries on every continent in the world.
