WPT Boot Camp adds high-profile instructors
World-renowned poker players John D'Agostino and Jon Friedberg are going to be sharing some of their insight on the game at the WPT Boot Camp.
Matusow, sometimes known as the Mouth, is perhaps the most prolific player and is always an entertaining player to watch. Matusow has two WSOP bracelets to his name and has won millions of dollars playing poker. Most recently he place second in the WPT Bellagio Cup III for $671,320.
"I already have attended one session and I'm looking forward to being the lead instructor at the MGM cash game camp Dec. 21-22," Matusow said. "It feels good to pass on my knowledge and tournament guidelines to people that are there to learn."
Friedberg took down his first WSOP bracelet in last year's $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em event. Since then he's cashed in a number of WPT and WSOP events and is one of the game's rising stars.
D'Agostino has had moderate success in tournament play and placed second in the 2006 WPT Borgata Winter Open for $591,312 but many believe his best game is at the cash tables.
The WPT Boot Camp, which offers instruction for both cash and tournament play, is quickly becoming one of the world's premier poker schools. Past instructors include Clonie Gowen and Scott Fischman among others. WPT Boot Camp vice president Steve Berman mentioned the players would be an invaluable asset to the burgeoning school.
"We are thrilled to add these very accomplished poker players to our existing staff of instructors," he said. "We recognize that there is a true science to how people learn and we take that into account when we select certain players to pass on their knowledge. "Mike, J-Dags and Jon all bring varied skills and styles of play to the camp. All three will be participating in both our tournament and cash strategy boot camps and be an exciting addition for our future students and our returning alumni."
In addition to cash and tournament play camps the players have been invited to attend and instruct at the WPT Boot Camp Battle for the Season II pass event in Nassau, Bahamas. Over five days students will interact with professional poker players in live learning labs then play in two exclusive tournaments with a combined prize pool of more than $210,000 worth of WPT buy-in packages.
