Season XIII still has two more events remaining but that hasn’t stopped the World Poker Tour from announcing the starting dates for Season XIV

It turns out Season XIV will debut on May 1, just a couple days after Season XIII wraps with the World Championship at Borgata in Atlantic City.

Season XIV will kick off in Montreal with the partypoker.net Canadian Spring Championship at the Playground Poker Club.

It’s a marked change for the WPT, which in the past has taken a couple months off from the North American circuit, usually starting their seasons in August or September.

The entire WPT Canadian Spring Championship, which runs April 19-May 6, will feature a total of 16 events ranging in buy-ins from $150 to $3,500 for the WPT Main Event.

Despite a smaller price tag, some of the initial events have huge prize pools with the Wild $150 offering a $100k guaranteed prize pool and the $250 Frenzy providing a massive $200k GTD.

“Spring is my favorite time of year, with so much poker action on the calendar,” said noted Playground player Antonio Esfandiari.

“What better way to kick it off than at one of my favorite places to play.

"I love Playground - I love the staff, I love the service and I love the city of Montreal.”

Qualifiers for the Canadian Spring Championship are already running on partypoker and start at just $5. To sign up for an account check out our partypoker review.
