Televised poker in the US is about to bounce back in a big way with the WPT's announcement of a new global high-roller series to air on Fox Sports in 2014.

Dubbed "Alpha8," the series will hit North America, Europe, Asia and South Africa and feature events with at least $100,000 buy-ins.

The series will start with WPT Alpha8 Florida on August 26 at the Seminole Hard Rock Open. Four-hour shows highlighting the action will begin airing on Fox Sports 1 starting in March, 2014.

“I am honored to announce Alpha8, WPT’s newest and most ambitious offering in conjunction with its primetime home on FS1,” said WPT President, Adam Pliska.

“Showcasing the world’s poker elite and featuring multimillion dollar prize pools, Alpha8 represents the highest televised treatment of super high-roller tournament poker to date.
