WPT Adds South Florida Stop

Four-time WPT finalist and two-time winner, 2010 November Niner Michael Mizrachi will be happy to learn the WPT is headed to his hometown this spring.

The World Poker Tour is headed to South Florida.

Entering into a multi-year alliance with Seminole Gaming that includes rebranding the poker rooms inside Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino sites across the Sunshine State, the WPT is now planning to host several events in Florida, including a televised stop in Hollywood this coming Spring.

The $10,000 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown will go off at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood from Apr. 27- May 3, 2011.

"A WPT tournament at a Seminole Casino in Florida is a perfect addition to our television season," said WPT President Adam Pliska.

"With the recent changes in its poker laws, this is a momentous time for the evolution of poker in Florida and we are proud to join forces with the Seminole Tribe to finally bring high-stakes poker to Florida."

Recent changes in Florida law removed caps from poker games and relaxed rules on hours of play.

As a result, the WPT says the fourth most populous state in the country seems destined to become one of the hottest poker markets in the U.S.

The new partnership means Seminole Casino poker rooms at six locations will now be open 24 hours, seven days a week, offering a total of 1,360 seats across the state.

"World Poker Tour will bring a new level of sophistication and excitement to poker rooms at Seminole Casinos," said Jeffrey Hook, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Seminole Gaming.

"We look forward to combining the WPT partnership with no-limit poker and 24-hour play to maximize the action for our players."
