The inaugural World Poker Tour Tournament of Champions is shaping up to be quite an event with nearly $200k in added prizes and a shot clock.

This year marks the debut of the invite-only TOC after the old WPT World Championship was finally laid to rest.

The upcoming TOC will feature a rake-free structure with a $15,000 buy-in and a $100,000 cash overlay. It’s open to anyone any WPT Champion’s Club members. All the winners from the current XIV season are also automatically entered.

New 30-Second Shot Clock

The 2016 TOC will also mark the debut of a brand-new Action Clock, which was created by Protection Poker with input from players.

In order to speed up the action players will get 30 seconds on each decision in addition to five 30-second time extensions that they can use at any point leading up to the final table.

It’s the first time one of the major poker tours has incorporated a shot clock in a flagship event.

In addition to the $100k cash overlay a number of WPT sponsors will also be kicking in a collection of prizes including:

– A special Hublot watch
– An Aurae Solid Gold MasterCard
– A pair of gold Monster 24K Headphones
– A custom premium poker table from BBO Poker Tables
– A seat in Tiger’s Poker Night Presented by World Poker Tour
– A round of golf at the world-class Shadow Creek Golf Course with Matt Savage and two friends

More prizes are set to be announced over the coming weeks.

The 2016 WPT Tournament of Champions will take place April 22 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Florida.
