World's longest poker game?
The BBC is reporting a group of players in southeast London sat down Friday night to attempt to set a new world record for the longest uninterrupted poker game.
The required time they're reporting, however - 42 hours - is already stirring up debate in card player forums on the Internet.
The BBC report says the 24 players began their bid Friday in a club in Greenwich. Each player put £20 in the pot, with half of the money going to charity and half to the winner when all is said and done.
The game was expected to continue until 4 p.m. today, with the only breaks allowed "to go to the toilet or get something to eat," one of the players said.
The question being asked on the Internet forums is whether or not 42 hours actually qualifies as the "World's Longest Uninterrupted Poker Game." Many legendary card games are reputed to have gone on for much longer, with varying degrees of time for breaks in between.
