No one can accuse the wildly popular World Poker Tour (WPT) of resting on its laurels. Season 5 has three months to go, a slew of winners still to be decided, and yet a full 16-event slate for Season 6 has been set for poker fans, running all the way to April 2008.
Season 6 is packed with events proved popular this year and kicks off in May, with the lights still warm from Season 5's year-ending championship at the Bellagio in Las Vegas in April.
The Mirage Poker Showdown in Vegas returns, as do events at the famed Aviation Club in Paris, Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, the Borgata in Atlantic City, the Commerce and Bicyle casinos in Los Angeles, and the Bay 101 in San Jose, Calif.
At least two Caribbean events are planned, with Season 6 again finishing with the World Poker Tour Championship, again at the Bellagio, in April 2008.
Buy-ins to World Poker Tour events are between $5,000 and $15,000, with the final event at the Bellagio calling for a $25,000 buy-in.
The final tables at World Poker Tour events are filmed and broadcast on the Travel Channel.
A final table in season 5 is actually finishing up as we speak at the Gold Strike Casino in Tunica, Miss. You can catch all of the live final table action in PokerListings.com's Live Tournaments Section.
