World Poker Tour Inks Five-Year Deal with FOX Sports
The World Poker Tour is going to be sticking around on the FOX Sports schedule for at least five more years.
The WPT announced a five-year deal with FOX this week that will include five seasons of content as well as an additional 13 hours of original programing each season.
In conjunction with the deal FOX will air two WPT marathons every year with the first taking place on Labor Day.
WPT broadcasts will also be available for streaming on FOX Sports Go.
Unprecedented Deal for WPT
President and CEO of the WPT Adam Pliska said the deal marks a new direction for the long-running tour.
"This unprecedented, five-year deal with FOX Sports elevates WPT into an elite and exclusive group of shows that have aired on television for nineteen seasons.
“This announcement is great for fans of the WPT and provides extensive, guaranteed exposure for our mainstream sponsors, including Hublot, Monster Headphones, Royal Caribbean International, and FIAT.
"We are proud of our new deal with FOX Sports, and we thank the network for its continued support and promotion of our content across its television and digital platforms.”
The WPT has been airing on FOX Sports since 2009. In that time the WPT broadcasts have reached more than 215 million viewers across the US. Each week the WPT averages nearly 1 million viewers.
Season XV of the WPT is currently in full swing with Legends of Poker set to take kick off Aug. 27, 2016 at the Bicycle Hotel and Casino.
