World Poker Congress to convene in June

Steve Lipscomb
The World Poker Congress will feature WPT founder and CEO Steve Lipscomb as one of its keynote speakers.

The World Poker Congress will meet for the fourth year June 24-25 at the Sheraton Porto Hotel and Spa in Porto, Portugal.

The World Poker Congress claims to be the only conference that examines and generates partnerships between live and online poker businesses.

"The World Poker Congress is simply not like other conferences. In attendance are the decision makers from the most exciting companies in the poker arena - and they are there to do business," said Steve Lipscomb, World Poker Tour founder and CEO.

Lipscomb has been a regular speaker and champion of the event since its inception in 2005. He is just one of the many executives, tournament directors, poker room managers and operators from both the live and online poker realms that take part in the World Poker Congress each year.

This year, confirmed speakers include David Carrion of Cirsa, Bram Cops with Split Aces and Paul Davis of Chexx IOM.

Topics for live poker will include tournament rules and standards, the latest innovations for televised tournaments, organizing tournaments and more. For online poker, there will be topics dealing with paying your winners, player trust, rakeback and more.

The conference will culminate in a closing keynote from Lipscomb and PartyGaming CEO Jim Ryan.

The World Poker Congress will also include a poker tournament for registered delegates, numerous networking opportunities and exhibition of companies providing products and services to poker operators.

"The World Poker Congress has been extremely valuable to ChiliPoker in terms of building business contacts and solidifying partnerships in both the online and the live poker worlds, which is why we renewed the lead sponsorship of the event for the third consecutive year," said Alexandre Dreyfus, ChiliPoker CEO.
