World Poker Classic: David Pham wins Event 8

"The Dragon" was on fire in Event 8 of the Five Diamond World Poker Classic.

Top pros keep winning side events at the sixth annual Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio. David "The Dragon" Pham took home Event 8 and $279,845 in prize money.

Pham joins big names such as 2007 Borgata Poker Open champion Roy Winston, who won Event 7, and Dutch Boyd, who claimed the top spot in Event 3.

Lots of other star players have finished in the money in the preliminary events, including Layne Flack, Michael Mizrachi, Men "The Master" Nguyen, Joe Sebok, "Miami" John Cernuto, Young Phan, Kathy Liebert, Kenna James and Shannon Shorr.

Event 8 of the series was a $2,500 No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament entered by 319 players.

The total prize pool was $773,575, and Pham defeated Marco Johnson heads-up to win just over a third of that money.

Otherwise, Courtney Harrington in third place ($78,550), Cory Carroll in eighth place ($14,960), Joanne "J.J." Liu in 12th place ($8,975), James Mackey in 14th place ($7,480) and Eric Froelich in 16th place ($5,985) were the most well-known faces on the prize list.
