Wheat farmer dusts field at Bayou Challenge
Mitch Merritt, a 57-year-old farmer from Ponder, Texas, is your latest World Series of Poker Circuit champion, taking yesterday's $500+$50 No-Limit Hold'em tournament at Harrah's New Orleans.
Over 350 runners squared up the buy-in for this one, the sixth event at this year's Bayou Poker Challenge, with Merritt catching a huge rush of cards at the end to take his first major tournament victory.
He collected $53,675 and a shiny WSOP Circuit gold ring for the win.
