There hasn't been a Czech player in the November Nine since Martin Staszko's runner-up run in 2011 but that changed tonight when Vojtech Ruzicka battled his way into the 2016 Main Event final table.
A six-year veteran of the live scene in Europe and the WSOP and a six-figure winner online for the past 5 years Ruzicka is also one of the most talented players at the table.
He's got the showy results to prove it, too, with a $1m+ year in 2011 that included a second-place finish in the WCOOP Main Event for $710,000.
He also has experience closing out big live tournaments as he won the EPT Season 9 Deauville High Roller for €313,000. He also previously won the German Championship of Poker in 2012.
Before his 2016 run, which has now guaranteed him at least $1m, Ruzicka's best previous WSOP cash was 7th in a $1,500 Bounty Event last year for $42k.
Ruzicka's make-or-break moment in this year's tournament came on Day 4. He got down to just 10 big blinds and ultimately three-outed Jeff Hakim on the river with A5 vs queens to save his tournament. By Day 6, he was the tournament chip leader again.
He'll start the final table in sixth overall with 27,300,000.
