Vince Neil hosts successful tourney in Vegas
By Lianne Elias
Vince Neil's Off The Strip Texas Hold'em Tournament succeeded in raising $150,000 for charity on November 11. The Motley Crue rocker hosted the event at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas together with a collection of dancers from some of Vegas' hottest night clubs.
The Small Town Poker Tour-sponsored event saw pro player Chad Layne take home first place, with second place going to Harry Morton, son of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino owner Peter Morton. The buy-in for the tournament was $500 + $40, and the event boasted an estimated $50,000 prize pool. An awards ceremony was held immediately following the tournament along with an auction.
All proceeds will be donated to the T.J. Martell Foundation via the Skylar Neil Foundation, which was established by Neil following the death of his daughter from stomach cancer. Since setting up his organization in 1995, Neil has helped raise over $1 million for the T.J. Martell Foundation, a non-profit music industry organization funding research into the treatment of leukemia, cancer, and AIDS.
