Published on 10 November 2014 by Pokerlistings 1986 has been to poker tournaments all over the world but we've never seen an event with the passion and excitement on display at the 2014 Battle of Malta. It not only broke it's own record for the biggest poker tournament in Malta history, with 1,447 entries, it brought together hundreds and hundreds of amateur poker players from all over Europe and gave them a major international tournament experience at a buy-in that's accessible even to low-stakes players. BOM Host Maria Ho did an amazing job anchoring the videos and interacting with fans and players, and she's back for one final event recap video to show you everything the Battle of Malta has to offer. After four huge days of poker Bulgarian Antoan Katsarov made a heads-up deal with local Maltese poker player Alan Brincat that saw Katsarov take home €122,000 and a killer Battle of Malta trophy. Check out the video for the winner interview, tons of footage from the Main Event and side tournaments, plus an inside look at the BOM VIP Player Party that was definitely one of the best parties in the poker world. The Battle of Malta will be back next year, bigger and better than ever, and we hope to see you there.

Maria Ho: The 2014 Battle of Malta is over, and it was huge. In fact, it broke its own record for the biggest poker tournament ever held in Malta.

In just three years, the Battle of Malta has become one of Europe's biggest standalone tournaments. And this year, we had 1,447 entries. Players from all over Europe came here looking for their share of the 500k guaranteed Euro prize pool. But when the final numbers were in, they discovered that we had crushed that number by over 40%.

Man 1: So I like this tournament very much, and I enjoy it every time I'm here.

Man 2: I mean, I've made it the last two years. And it's getting just bigger and bigger for every year. So it's really good.

Woman: Yeah, I won a package through Betsafe. So I'm kind of free-rolling this tournament. But it's really cool to play a large international tournament.

Man 3: It has been fun. I think I'll play a lot more qualifiers from now on, especially AAA. Had a lovely package, a lovely stay here, and it has been amazing.

Maria: In addition to the main event, we also hosted a Grand Master High Roller, a Turbo Deep Stack, and a Pot Limit Omaha event. There was definitely no shortage of action on the felts. But there was a lot more than just poker at this year's Battle of Malta.

It took four days of poker for the field to be cut down to the final table. And one by one, the final nine fell, until it was just Antoan Katsarov and Alan Brincat going toe to toe for the 2014 Battle of Malta title.

And now, for our 2014 Battle of Malta champion, Antoan Katsarov. Congratulations.

Antoan: Thank you very much. Whoa, it's so big!

Maria: It's very heavy. Antoan, can you please share with us, how does it feel right now to know that you have won the biggest poker tournament in Maltese history?

Antoan: It feels great. It's nice to have such a cool trophy, such a nice winning, and to be the best. So everything's so nice. I just love it. Thank you very much.

Maria: So what does this kind of money mean to you? And what kind of freedoms do you see yourself, that will come out of this?

Antoan: It's going to help to play the highest [inaudible 00:03:56] stakes and be one of the best.

Maria: Well, congratulations to you both and a great, great run.

And that's a wrap from the 2014 Battle of Malta. I'm your host, Maria Ho, saying, hope to see you next year.
