Venetian hosting super-satellites for NPL event

The National Poker League's big event, the Vegas Open, is coming to the Venetian in November. To gear up for the event, the Venetian will be hosting weekly super-satellites for seats in the $2,500 buy-in events.

The first satellite will take place Saturday and run every Saturday until the tournaments begin at the end of November. Each super-satellite will have a $100+$15 buy-in and offer re-buys for the first four levels.

"With everything on the line and the potential for immense wealth and unrivaled stardom, it is not only our privilege to offer players a more cost effective alternative to playing in the Vegas Open and perhaps making a TV final table," said Sam Riddle, NPL president of television, "but it is also essential to the NPL's core mission."

The NPL is one of the first leagues to set up an intercontinental tournament circuit with venues in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States during the 2007 season. The circuit also produces 26 one-hour TV episodes that will broadcast around the world.

"We've traveled great distances in our quest to bring the world's first international tournament circuit to a global stage," said Robert Huxley, NPL vice president of poker operations.

"It has been a long and exciting journey, but everyone is looking forward to coming home in December. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The NPL has a great home, and our home is the Venetian."

The NPL 2007 Las Vegas Open is scheduled to run Nov. 24 through Dec. 5 in the Venetian Poker Room. The schedule is as follows:

Date Event
Nov. 25 $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em
Nov. 26 $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em
Nov. 27 $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em
Nov. 28 $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em
Nov. 30 $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em
Dec. 3 $15,000 No-Limit NPL Championship

The super-satellites leading up to the tournament series are for seats in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em events. Once the series starts, there are also satellites to the $5,000 and $15,000 events. The schedule for those is:

Date Event
Nov. 29 $500 Satellite to $5k
Dec. 1 $1,000 Satellite
Dec. 2 $1,000 Satellite

The Venetian is noted for its friendly staff and luxury, according to the NPL, and is one of the world's most premier properties and gaming destinations.

"The inception of their poker room has made them a favorite venue of choice for poker players who demand the utmost quality and expect nothing short of the perfect gaming experience," said the NPL.
