Vacation, break record, win Aussie Millions seat

Beachside Palm Trees

By Erin Warner

Guinness Book of World Records officials will be in Port Douglas, Australia, this month, as organizers of the Reef & Rainforest Carnivale attempt to host the largest-ever outdoor poker tournament.

The event is to go down May 23-26 at Rex Smeal Park, where players will feel the breeze of the Coral Sea blowing throw the palm trees as they bet, call and fold. Upwards of 2,000 entrants - the most people ever to play poker together in one place at the same time - are expected.

Besides the honors of participating in a record-breaking event, poker players will be competing for a coveted seat at the 2008 Aussie Millions main event.

The package includes a $10,500 seat in the championship, as well as flights and accommodation. A door prize - a trip for two to Las Vegas - is also up for grabs by anyone registered in the event.

Players have the choice of tournament days, with the option to play just one day or all three. Those who make the top 10 of the day will advance to the final.

The top 30 players will then compete in the 888 Reef Shark Classic at the Central Hotel on May 26.
