By Sarah Polson
U.K. poker player Jeff Sharpe took home the €50,000 top prize at the Showdown Poker Tour (SPT) event at the Fitzwilliam Card Club in Dublin, Ireland, May 26-28. He was sponsored by Betfair Poker after winning one of their qualifying events online.
Sharpe was one of 20 players entered in the main event of the tournament, along with several pro players. He played against two of the Mob members, Ram Vaswani and Joe Beevers, at the final table along with Andy Black, Christopher Clark, Kent Ballegaard, Ola Brandborn and Niklas Ohman.
Brandborn walked away with €30,000 as the second place finisher, and Ohman earned €20,000 with his third place finish.
The next SPT event will be at the Casino Barrière de Trouville in Trouville, France, in early August. More information about the tour can be found at New Poker Tour Introduced In Europe.
