U.K. Pro Sadan Turker Poised for Breakout WSOP
Online pro Sadan Turker came as close as you can get to winning a bracelet in the 2011 WSOP but ultimately fell short.
It's someting he's looking to rectify this year.
Turker was the runner-up finisher to Sean Getzwiller in one of the biggest $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em tournaments last year.
He won more than the official second place payout of $377k, thanks to an unofficial heads-up deal, but left unsatisfied.
The 23 year old mentioned he cares more about the money in poker tournaments but did admit it stung not shipping the bracelet.
“It kind of bugged me,” said Turker. “Mostly because I didn’t play particularly well heads-up. I should have beaten him. It really hit me a few weeks later.”
He’s off to a good start at the 2012 WSOP as he climbed to the top of the chip counts after Day 1 of Event 2: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em.
Turker is a rising star in the U.K. online poker scene although he slips under the radar compared to established pros like Chris Moorman and Sam Trickett.
Known online as the_snail03, Turker has earned over $1 million playing online tournaments and has notable scores in the $109 PokerStars Rebuy and the Full Tilt Sunday Brawl.
Born and raised in London, Turker started playing poker when he was just 16 years old.
“I just loved the game,” he said.
Three years ago Turker decided to drop out of University and pursue poker professionally.
An online pro, through and through, Turker is not exactly awestruck by the big-name live poker pros at the WSOP.
“I’m all about online players who crush live poker as well. Those are the guys I like,” he said.
Don’t be surprised if you end up seeing a lot of Turker at the 2012 WSOP. He’ll be in Vegas for the entire summer with plans to play numerous events.
