Tropicana to host qualifiers for ProJo Championships

The ProJo Poker National Championships will be held in Las Vegas in February 2006 and will offer up $40 million in prize and bonuses, with first place winner taking home an estimated $1 million.

The early stages of the tournament are only open to 'Average Joe' players, with the top 8 qualifiers advancing to the regional semi-finals where they will compete against some of the world's best pro players. Only 4 'Joes' will advance to the final table to compete against the pros. A 'Pro Only' semi-final event will be held for the 8 pro players invited to complete; Four of them will advance to the final table to play.

Any and all recreational poker players are invited to participate in the qualifying events currently being held at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. Beginning yesterday and running until Wednesday, January 18th, 2006, the 26 weekly tournaments will constitute the first ProJo Poker Tournament Series for the Eastern Regionals.

Satellite events will boast a $100 + $20 buy-in, with winners and runners-up receiving a $550 guaranteed seat in the preliminary events. A direct buy-in to the preliminary event costs $500 + $50. The total prize pool is $90,000. The Tropicana Casino and Resort is also offering Super Satellites with a $50 + $5 buy-in.

The 26 weekly champions will receive rings designed by Super Bowl ring designers Jostens. All winners will participate in the ProJo Poker National Championship on February 3rd and 4th during ProJo Poker week, which runs from January 28th until February 4th and boasts four prestigious poker tournaments:

• January 28th-29th: U.S. Amateur Poker Championships
• January 30th-31st: U.S. Professional Poker Championships
• February 1st-2nd: U.S. Team Poker Championships
• February 3rd-4th: ProJo Poker National Championships

CBS Sports will air 8 of the 26 ProJo Poker tournaments, including the finals from Las Vegas and four ProJo Poker Specials. A slew of additional bonus promos will be available to those players who make a ProJo final table, such as bounties and heads-up bonuses.
