Traffic Report: New high for FTP's new year
By Sarah Polson
Full Tilt Poker is getting its year off to a good start. The poker site has already hit a traffic high above its busiest day last year.
On Jan. 4, the PokerListings Online Poker Traffic Report recorded an average of 9,936 poker players per hour hitting Full Tilt Poker's cash games. That tops the previous 9,704 it averaged on a day in November and December for its highest traffic in 2008.
The daily traffic breakdown is an average of player volume by hour over a 24-hour period playing cash games.
Perhaps the increase on Sunday has something to do with the game's biggest online and offline players playing some pretty hefty pots that day as well.
Watching players like Phil Ivey, durrrr, Ziigmund and other toss around hundreds of thousands of dollars at the tables could very well inspire even the lowest-stakes players to try their luck at the tables.
The biggest pot of the day was a $146,599 whopper played in an Omaha game that included Ivey, Ziigmund and MR B 2U SON. All three were in the hand pre-flop, but MR B 2U SON got out of the way after seeing the flop and let Ziigmund and Ivey battle it out.
Game: $200/$400 - Omaha Table: Barn (deep-six) Players: MR B 2 U SON, Ziigmund, Phil Ivey Date: Jan. 4, 2009 4:09:33 p.m. ET Hand ID: 9855228303

Earlier on Sunday, there was also big action at the high-stakes No-Limit Hold'em tables as durrrr and luckexpress10 locked horns to trade some triple-digit pots back and forth. You can read more about that brawl in "durrrr issues million-dollar challenge."
