Titan player boosts bankroll with tourney win

Ever since Chris Moneymaker hit it big at the World Series of Poker after winning his way to the tournament through an online poker site, players have been dreaming of turning their online play into big money.

Michael Schwaiger got one step closer to achieving that dream last weekend when he won the Titan Poker $150,000 Guaranteed Prize tournament.

Schwaiger, 21, was first introduced to Titan Poker through the Refer A Friend program about a year and half ago. He has since been playing hard and working to refine his skills and attain Titan Poker VIP Status.

All that effort paid off as he defeated the playing field on Sunday to earn a $52,500 top prize.

Schwaiger considers himself an amateur poker enthusiast at the moment, and he doesn't plan to quit his day job based on that one win, but it will certainly help him get started toward becoming a pro player.

"Sure I'll make a couple of purchases with my winnings, but I plan to leave enough money in my Titan Poker account to participate in their other great tournaments," Schwaiger said. "I would love to qualify for a live tournament like the Irish Open or the EPT Madrid and finally pursue my dream of become a poker pro."

Many players at Titan Poker have started down that road by winning their way to major events around the world at the poker site. Titan Poker recently sent 17 players to play in the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event. The site has also sent players to other events on the World Poker Tour and more in the past.

The poker site's latest promotion is its Sun City Million Dollar Poker Tournament prize packages. Players can win their way to participate in a $1.5 million guaranteed prize tournament in South Africa. There are satellites available for as little as $1.50+$15 for players to start working their way toward a prize package.

Winners will also be treated to a week's spa entry, a round of golf, a safari drive, hot air balloon rides and rock concert tickets.
