$tinger 88 Strikes for $79k
Brian “$tinger 88” Hastings seems to be adjusting to his new life in Vancouver as he pulled down $79k in the high stakes games this weekend.
Hastings moved to Canada earlier this month so that he could play online poker but he had a rocky start in his newfound home.
Over the first two weeks of action Hastings lost over $100k and there’s a good chance he was having second thoughts about his relocation.
He stormed back over the weekend, however, recording a scant 281 hands of $50/$100 6-Max PLO but winning nearly $80k.
Hastings is now up about $50k since moving to Vancouver and is riding a $223k profit on PokerStars in 2011.
The CardRunners instructor was not the biggest winner over the weekend as former pro Warcraft 3 player Davin “mTw-DaviN” Georgi played 6,601 hands and won $132k.
There have been plenty of swings for Georgi this year but he’s currently up $314k on PokerStars in 2011.
Also making it into the top five biggest winners were socutiesf (+$125k), cpf123.com (+$106k) and alexeimartov (+$79k).
Online player The Liar was the biggest loser as he dropped $137k over 6,412 hands but Phil “MrSweets28” Galfond was certainly the biggest name to lose big.
Galfond played 7,452 hands over the weekend but lost a total of $106k. Another U.S. refugee in Vancouver, Galfond got off to a hot start upon his initial arrival in Canada but then went into an extended downswing.
The Maryland-native peaked at nearly $500k in profit last month but is now down to just $55k.
Thecortster (-$89k), PiS.ToTo (-$82k) and WhySoSrsSon (-$81k) filled out the rest of the top five losers list over the weekend.
