Dwan forced to surrendurrrr

Tom Dwan

By Sean Lind

In a $500/$1,000 heads-up match between online giants Tom "durrrr" Dwan and LarsLuzak, the master of the Dwanswong took a serious beating at the felt.

Out of the four largest pots played in this session, durrrr lost the three largest of them, all of them worth over $65,000. In combined losses between the three pots, durrrr lost over $235,000 worth of pots to LarsLuzak in this session.

To durrrr's credit, the losses seem legitimate. (See this pot, and all the other largest pots won online, by clicking here.)

In the world of high-stakes heads-up play, top pair is almost always a good enough reason to ship it. Add in countless hours and hands of history between these two players, and you'll often get thoughts and lines completely outside the standard poker player's comprehension.

This hand is mostly straightforward: durrrr check-raises with top pair, which has a very reasonable chance at being the best hand, and becomes committed to the pot when Lars repops it, shipping it all in. The turn and river miss durrrr's three-outer, forcing another reload.
