Time marches on at EPT Grand Final

Chad Brown

By Erin Warner

Slowly but surely, the playing field at the European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo is whittling away as Day 2 of the championship event draws to a close.

A lot is at stake in the event, with €1.8 million earmarked for the tournament's winner and €6.6 million is the total prize money up for grabs.

No longer in contention for the sweet dollar bills are Phil Ivey, Marcel Luske, Joe Hachem, Phil Hellmuth, Greg Raymer, Gus Hansen, David Benyamine, Erica Schoenberg and Isabelle Mercier.

But making up for their peers' performances are Chad Brown - the current chip leader - as well as Andy Black, Josh Arieh, and Carlos Mortensen, among others.

PokerListings.com is taking in the action at the Sporting Casino in Monte Carlo and will be providing live updates until the final card is turned at tournament's conclusion Tuesday.

Foreign correspondent Owen Laukkanen is in the poker room and willing to sacrifice sleep to produce the wittiest and most comprehensive tournament coverage online. To check it out, visit our Live Tournaments Section.
