"Threedom" for Betfair players in Europe
Betfair is trying to prove good things come in threes.
The online betting company announced today that if one of its players makes it to the final table of the WSOPE he or she will be sponsored into the event for the next three years.
The so-called "Threedom" pass would be worth $69,000 (three $20,000 buy-ins plus $9,000 in expenses) at the World Series of Poker Europe. Players who qualify online with Betfair will be eligible as will customers who buy in directly through the company's software.
"The Threedom pass has been a part of our live tournament offering for two years now but this is the most valuable [installment of it]," said Betfair Head of Poker Ben Fried. "We are committed to supporting our very best players."
The main event of the European tournament is expected to attract more than 700 players with more than 125 Betfair players taking part. If more than one Betfair player makes the final table there could be multiple Threedom passes handed out.
WSOP organizers were thrilled about the extra value Betfair players would be getting out of the tournament.
"With all the legends of poker who have committed to this event, making the first-ever WSOP Europe final table will be a significant accomplishment," remarked Ty Stewart, Director of Marketing, Sponsorship & Licensing for Harrah's Entertainment. "We applaud Betfair for creating additional excitement and value for players."
With Doyle Brunson and numerous other big-name poker players already committed to playing in the series it's shaping up to be one heck of a September.
