Team PokerRoom.com dominates ONPC
Think twice about inviting Team PokerRoom.com to your next home game. Sixteen of their players made the final 45, and five the final table of the inaugural Ongame Network Poker Classic in Barcelona, Spain, taking over $500,000 home with them.
None of them took top spot - that went to the U.K.'s Stuart "foxystong" Fox - but Team PokerRoom.com definitely made their presence felt. In all, the 16 took $600,000 in prize money, and knocked out their fair share of competitors along the way.
"The tournament has demonstrated once again why PokerRoom.com players are among the best in the world," Bwin spokesperson for PokerRoom.com Karin Klein said in a statement.
"PokerRoom.com players displayed nerves of steel, incredible skill, savvy and a touch of luck to beat their opponents."
The top 45 qualified online for the live final and were flown to Barcelona for the two-day No-Limit Hold'em tournament Dec. 1-3 at the Casino de Barcelona.
These were the top five Team PokerRoom.com finishers and their earnings:
- Second - Ben "Kill U" Blair, U.S. - $155,729.50
- Fourth - David "Stuart531" Whalen, U.S. - $99,034.00
- Fifth - James "jimdownunder" Honeybone, New Zealand - $84,970.00
- Seventh - David "Davidp18" Peters, U.S. - $56,549.00
- Eighth - Douglas "deadblind" Smith, U.S. - $42,485.00
