Swedish pro signs Purple Lounge deal

Stefan Mattsson will play for Purple Lounge Poker.
By Erik Sylven
Swedish poker pro Stefan Mattsson has finished in the top 100 in the World Series of Poker Main Event two years in a row. These fine performances have earned the 27-year-old a sponsorship deal with the up-and-coming poker site Purple Lounge.
This year Stefan Mattsson finished in 22nd place in the WSOP Main Event, winning $333,490. In 2006, the Swede got $123,699 for his 57th-place finish in the poker world championship.
Making it into the top 100 in the two biggest live poker tournaments ever is an amazing achievement. The only other player to do so is Costa Rican superstar Humberto Brenes, who finished 83 in 2007 and 38 in 2006.
"We're extremely proud and excited to welcome Stefan to the Purple Lounge team. Stefan is evidently talented and his skills at the poker table are incredibly impressive. We're thrilled to be working with him and we look forward to seeing what we can achieve together over the next year," said Chris Gorman, chairman of Purple Lounge Limited.
The sponsorship will see Stefan representing Purple Lounge as a brand ambassador on the international poker circuit at world-class tournaments as well as at a whole range of branded events including conferences, exhibitions, parties and tours.
"I'm delighted to be working with Purple Lounge, and I'm looking forward to building a great relationship with my new team. My WSOP result this year was simply mind-blowing and I'm confident I can achieve some more great results for Purple Lounge over the next year," said Mattsson.
