Svenska Spel and Boss Media poker venture approved by Swedish government

Sweden's largest gaming firm, Svenska Spel (Swedish Games Corp.), is moving forward with plans to introduce poker to its online gaming selection together with online gaming software provider Boss Media after receiving approval from the Swedish government this week.

The two Swedish companies will begin working on the joint venture immediately, with Boss Media providing the poker room software and network to Svenskaspel.se, the Swedish giant's online gaming site.

The new license approved by the government is limited to Internet poker, however, with the government making it clear that no Internet casinos or betting exchanges are permitted to run on the site.
