Straight on the river wins ActionPoker.com Shoot-out

By Christopher Hunt

It wasn't his favorite hand before the tournament, but it might be now. Finnguy, one of six amateurs at the final table of the $500,000 ActionPoker.com Shoot-out last weekend in London, hit a gutshot straight on the river in the final hand and took home $200,000 as a result.

The oldest player in the tournament at 63 and a resident of Toronto, Canada, but playing for Finland in the tournament, Finnguy had listed the full house as his favorite hand in his personal bio beforehand.

Look for that to change as both he and SqueegyKid, the last two standing from the six online qualifiers whisked to London for the big shoot-out, were all-in heads-up with gutshot draws and Finnguy was the one to hit.

The spoils? A $200,000 payday for Finnguy and a $70,000 consolation prize for SqueegyKid.

The tournament was recorded live and will be televised in the spring on SKY Cable's PokerZone channel. All the poker action will also be available in a few weeks at ActionPoker.com.
