Stefan Mattsson signs with Purple Lounge
By Sarah Polson
Stefan Mattsson is continuing his sponsorship relationship with Purple Lounge Poker after the poker site signed him once again as a pro player for its brand.
Purple Lounge Poker first announced it had signed the poker pro last year in September and Mattsson has once again signed on with the poker site to continue to represent the brand in big international tournaments.
"We have now reached a deeper relationship with Stefan through a complete sponsor contract that really benefits us," said Matt Larter, from Purple Lounge Poker.
"I predict a great future for him, and I am convinced that he is the next Scandinavian superstar of poker. He is the perfect ambassador for our brand."
Mattsson first signed with Purple Lounge Poker after having two successful runs at the World Series of Poker. He made it to 57th place for a $123,699 cash in the 2006 Main Event, then returned in 2007 to go even deeper, making it to 22nd place and another $333,490 payout.
He has since cashed in a European Poker Tour event as well as coming in second in a World Poker Tour event this year and then coming in 12th in a Deep Stack Extravaganza III event in Las Vegas.
According to Purple Lounge Poker, Mattsson feels that he is taking the next step to becoming even more successful with his alliance to the online poker site.
"I couldn't ask for a better site to represent, and I think this agreement will further reinforce my place in the poker world," Mattsson said.
An important part of Mattsson's contract is that he will be a central character in Purple Lounge Poker's marketing during the next year, and he will be representing the poker site at various major tournaments around the world.
That begins next week with the EPT event in Barcelona. Mattsson will also be playing as a Purple Lounge player at the 2009 World Series of Poker.
