Star-studded charity event back at Caesars

By: Christopher Hunt

The biggest stars in the poker world definitely win their fair share of money. But they're also not shy about giving it back, and when the opportunity arises - particularly for charity - they do so in spades. This year's star-studded Opportunity Village Celebrity Poker Tournament should be no different.

Back for a second year, Caesars Palace will again play host for the event, this year featuring a World Series of Poker Main Event seat for the winner plus $50,000 in additional cash and prizes.

Among the other highlights: A VIP reception, a "Losers' Lounge" at PURE Nightclub with an open bar, a one-of-a-kind diamond fashion show and a silent auction with live entertainment.

A host of local celebs and pros are expected to be in attendance, and the tournament is open to the public for a suggested contribution of $500, with second chance buy-in opportunities available right up until the sixth round.

Also on the slate: poker lessons from professional player and noted author David Sklansky for a $25 donation to Opportunity Village, a local Las Vegas charity that supports people in the community with intellectual disabilities.

Registration opened April 5, and for all the details visit www.opportunityvillage.org.
