Sportingbet Plc., owner of Paradise Poker, has reported an overall poker rake increase of 107% to $541,782 in the second quarter and first half ended January 31, 2006, it was announced recently. According to a report issued by the gaming group, the same period in 2005 resulted in a poker rake profit of $261,668.
The group said that 23,077 active U.S. sports customers played poker during the quarter and generated an average rake of $52,888 per day, as compared to 17,729 players and $26,000 in rake during the same period in the first quarter of 2006.
"During the three months ended 31 January 2006 we have recruited more new customers, taken more bets, played more games of poker and made more profit than in any previous quarter in the Group's history," said Peter Dicks, chairman of Sportingbet.
Nigel Payne, CEO of Sportingbet, said: "I am delighted to report a record performance for Sportingbet this quarter, a period in which the scale of the [Sportingbet] Group's operations has again increased significantly..."
He continued, "We now have over 3.9m registered customers, who placed 290,000,000 sports and gaming bets in the first half of this year and played 339,000,000 games of poker. Our growth continues at a strong pace."
