Just days after PokerListings reported the Small Town Poker Tour (STPT) is planning to scout Australian venues for an upcoming tour, STPT representatives have announced the European STPT will be fast-tracked as well.
As a result of massive interest attracted by the American STPT, AMT Media LLC., parent company of the tour, has decided to move up the timetable for the European version. "The amazing interest in the upcoming USA Tour has lead us to push up the date for the European Small Town Poker Tour Championships," said Mark Fracalossi, executive producer of the STPT and CEO of AMT Media LLC.
The Small Town Poker Tour will feature a cross-country search for the nation's best amateur poker player. Slated to be filmed for a debut television series in the United States, the production will focus on the tour's 'small town flavor', with No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament finals played out in casinos and the remainder of the tour consisting of back road poker playing. All money raised by the tour will be donated to local charities.
Fracalossi revealed the European format will mirror that of the American and Australian tours, and that the company is currently in talks with a number of European sponsors and is also negotiating a television deal. STPT representatives have been scouting locations in Europe in recent months but have yet to decide on any venues or charities.
