The Small Town Poker Tour (STPT) will be hosting an event in the Cajundome and Convention Center in Lafayette, Louisiana, Nov. 2-3.

Because of growing interest in the STPT, the venue for the tournament has been changed.

"The tournament has been moved to the Cajundome and Convention Center to accommodate the crowd. Last year we had almost 700 players; this year we are setting up for 1,000," said STPT creator Mark Fracalossi.

The STPT's motto is "Changing the world of poker one hand at a time." Accordingly, the two-day $100+10 tournament will benefit the United Way of Acadiana. Of course there are prizes to be won as well.

The winner of the main event gets a $10,000 Visa Gift card, while the runner-up will receive a $5,000 Visa Gift card and the third-place finisher a $3,000 Visa Gift card.

There will also be a second-chance event with over $10,000 in Visa Gift card payouts.

In addition to the poker action, a local pub will host an after party on the Friday night (Nov. 2). The band A Dollar Short will perform pro bono to support the United Way. All event participants will be entitled to one free drink.

Another STPT tournament will be played in Louisiana on Nov. 30. This one-day event will be played at the Lake Charles Civic Center and benefit the Lake Charles Symphony.
