Show Tony G. who's boss, be poker master

Tony G at the No-Limit Hold'em with Re-buys Event

For the first time in its history, Betfair Poker is the official sponsor of an exclusive televised poker tournament, and it's a big one. The Poker Masters of Europe is a 36-player, invite-only event that will send someone off into the night with over $100,000 and the ever-elusive title of "poker master."

Well, you won't win that title "officially." But you're free to call yourself that.

Set to be filmed May 11-14 at Riverside Studios in London, and to be produced by Emblaze Productions (the team behind the British Poker Open and the European Poker Masters), the Poker Masters of Europe will feature none other than Tony G himself, and a host of other star players from around the world.

"We aim to make this the most important invitational event of the year," said Betfair's Head of Poker Ben Fried. "We expect some exciting characters from sport and screen as well as the top poker players; it will make great TV."

The tournament set-up is a shootout format, with six heats of six players feeding into a final table with a prize of well over $100,000 for the winner.

The majority of players will each buy-in for $7,500, but six players will also have a chance to qualify exclusively online at Betfair Poker.

Daily and weekly qualifying tournaments will be running with buy-ins as little as $1.10.
